Aiken, SC -- The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Wackenhut Services Incorporated (WSI) will host the 32nd Annual Security Police Officer Training Competition (SPOTC) "Carolina Challenge," May 2 - 6, at the Savannah River Site (SRS) Advanced Tactical Training Academy (ATTA).
SPOTC is a tactically oriented security firearms competition sponsored by the DOE Office of Security. Competition events include, individual and team firearms competition, tactical training, physical fitness and a written exam.
Approximately 200 security police officers are expected to compete, representing the DOE sites, U.S. military, local police forces and a team from the United Kingdom. They will compete for both team and individual awards.

NOTICE TO EDITORS AND NEWS DIRECTORS:
Members of the media are invited to cover the Carolina Challenge. Competition events will be held at ATTA on SRS. ATTA may be accessed from South Carolina Highway 278. An access gate, east of the intersection of Highways 278 and 19, will be manned by WSI security guards. Prior notification of attendance is preferred.
Events will start at 12 p.m. on May 3, at 8 a.m. on May 4-5 and beginning 10 a.m. on May 6.
