Environmental Cleanup Technology Conference To Be Held

The Savannah River Operations Office of the Department of Energy is hosting the Environmental Restoration Technology End User Conference on June 6-8 at the Sheraton Augusta Hotel, in Augusta, Georgia. The principal purposes of the conference are to share cleanup successes and innovations from the two co-sponsoring federal agencies-the Department of Defense and the Environmental Protection Agency-and DOE sites; promote the deployment of innovative technology; and improve teamwork in cleanup among the agencies and the state regulatory bodies. Two days of meetings at the hotel will be followed by a tour of SRS on June 8. Principal addresses are anticipated by John Lehr, Acting Associate Deputy Secretary for the Office of Science and Technology, DOE; Stephen Luftig, director for the Office of Emergency and Remedial Response, EPA; and Colonel John Selstrom, Director for DOD's Environmental Cleanup Programs. Updates on various technologies will be presented, including sessions on phytoremediation and monitored natural attenuation. Breakout sessions will be conducted by the Interstate Technology Regulatory Cooperation, EPA's Technology Innovation Office, and the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Hazardous, Toxic and Radioactive Waste Center of Expertise. Attendance is limited to 250.
