Aiken, SC – On
Thursday, November 30, U.S. Department of Energy Assistant Secretary for
Environmental Management James Rispoli will speak at a ceremony marking the
completion of T Area Closure at the Savannah River Site.
T Area was
the first operational area at SRS, starting up in 1952 and continuing to serve
the site until 2002, when demolition began on its 28 facilities.
Demolition was completed in 2004, and final environmental remediation
began. T Area is now being formally
closed, marking SRS’s first area closure. WHO:
