SRS Saltstone Disposal Facility Performance Assessment

The Department of Energy is providing the Savannah River Site (SRS) Saltstone Disposal Facility Performance Assessment (SDF PA) for external review by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.

This document provides information to support continued operation of the Saltstone Disposal Facility by updating previous analysis to include both deterministic and probabilistic modeling and an evaluation of a new disposal vault design.

A briefing to the SRS Citizen’s Advisory Board Waste Management Committee and the public explaining the analysis performed and results documented in the SDF PA will be scheduled for early 2010. The SDF PA is provided for information and any concerns or questions should be provided by March 1, 2010 to:
